Hi there It's my chinchillas birthday this month and I was thinking of getting her a wheel. Is this safe? I once tried her with a ball because at the time I didn't know the dangers of having one and I don't want to make the same mistake twice. Please help :) Admin reply: Email sent

Hello everyone: It has been a while since last time I wrote. I am from California and my chinnie's name is Timmy. Timmy used to belong to my friend Tom but about 6 months ago he was deployed to the middle east as we are both in the military. I have been taking care of him all this time and when my friend came back jsut a few weeks ago he noticed how much Timmy and I had bonded. I have purchased many toys for him and we play with him alot. He has gotten a big heavier so I think he needs to be on a diet for some time. I had to go on a work trip for a few weeks and my wife fed him alot of food and treats. Tom decided that it was better if Timmy stayed with us as he doesnt have time to play with him. I am very excited and happy about how all turned out. Its Timmy's b-day some time this month, im not quite sure but as soon as I find out, I will post it up. I agree with everyone else, excellent site. I got my chin, Mr Bumble, from a breeder last Sunday having done lots of research on the internet. He is four and a Standard. He has only just started to venture out of his cage tonight as I don't want to push him, but I am longing for the time when I can hold him. Admin reply: Email sent

Tails had to be put to sleep today, after many trips to the vets, she had developed cancer in her lymph nodes, and was rapidly losing weight even though she was still eating healthily. She had suffered fit- like muscle spasms and became very lethargic. She then developed a breathing problem and the vet persuaded us it was best to her her put to sleep. Just to warn other chinchilla owners, I have never come across this before, and there was little or no information on it. The vet later found that the cancer had spread all throughout her stomach,so nothing could have been done. Miss you tails, hope you are happier where you are now. Hi - You have a lovely site and one your pet would be proud of, I have a chinchilla who is white mosaic and she is like one of the family and my finace dotes on her and she plays up to him all the time, they are like best friends, she was born in July 2002 so is now eight years old and still as cheeky as ever! Hi Just thought i would share this with like minded people, my 2 lovely violet chillas are in my living room, i moved them today to clean under their cage, so now they are facing the tv, i just got up to go to bed, and they where both sitting in their hammocks watching telly, i couldnt belive what i was seeing, ( i hope they like the soaps haha) they do make me laugh xxx Admin reply: Email sent
